Profile<\/strong><\/p>\n Childhood dream of a profession<\/strong>: I dreamt to become an astronaut. This is probably the standard answer of people who spent their childhood in the Soviet Union. Then I wanted to be a pilot, later I dreamt of being a border guard following the example of my father. When I grew up, I decided to become a doctor and entered the medical school. In my youth after graduating, I wanted to study law.<\/p>\n Current position: <\/strong>the Commissioner of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission (the NSSMC)<\/p>\n Education<\/strong>:<\/strong> Yurii Boiko has several higher educations. He graduated from the Ukrainian Stock Market Development Institute of the Kyiv National Economic University named after Vadym Hetman. He is also a graduate of the Ukrainian School of Political Studies.<\/p>\n Career: <\/strong>Yurii Boiko worked as the Head of Brokerage Department of the International Investment Group SigmaBleyzer, where he started his career as an Assistant Lawyer in 1997. Then he was the Director of the TEKT Investment Company. From 2010 to 2015 he held the position of the Director of the Stock Market Infrastructure Development Agency of Ukraine (SMIDA). Mr. Boiko was also the Member of the Supervisory Board of the PFTS Stock Exchange JSC, the Member of the Council of Participants of the National Depository of Ukraine (the NDU).<\/p>\n Achievements: <\/strong>Yurii Boiko is a top manager in investments area, communications and project management. He is an expert in all types of stock market activities, M&A, corporate law, communications and IT.<\/p>\n Three key traits of character:<\/strong> openness, honesty, persistence in achieving goals.<\/p>\n \u2013 <\/strong>What do you like in your profession most of all?<\/strong><\/p>\n I usually like what I get. My range of activities is rather wide, so, apparently there has been professional success in every segment. I think that the main thing in every profession is the proper management, i.e. governance, what I am doing now in the NSSMC.<\/p>\n I also like that any area can be turned into the project. Project management is impossible without the IT component, as it is the automation of all processes. It is extremely difficult to imagine the resolution of conflicts or tasks without communications or PR. This synergy helps and motivates.<\/p>\n \u2013 What professional and personal qualities help to be successful in your area?<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2013 The main principle I set for myself and for others is honesty. You cannot be a half-honest person. If you are honest with yourself and with others, everything else fades into the background.<\/p>\n \u2013 What qualities should a professional have?<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2013 I think the foresight is very important. By the way, it is my second principle after honesty. I am guided by this when making a team and make sure that every member of it is far-sighted. It is extremely important not just to do your job well and efficiently, but to think about the possible risks and consequences of a particular action or decision. In my opinion, it is like in a chess game, the secret of success is in the combination of honesty and foresight.<\/p>\n \u2013 Do you have a guru in your field and in general? Who is the guru for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2013 There are people who influenced my formation as a personality and an expert. There are a lot such people, so I will not list them.<\/p>\n There is a good word the \u201ctheory\u201d, but there exists something better \u2013 that is the practice. We get it constantly from negotiations, joint projects, monitoring colleagues and management. I try to turn everything into experience, up to every meeting.<\/p>\n It is good that there have been more than enough people on my way who had and have something to learn. I think that everybody who has worked with me knows that I am grateful to all the people that have been around both \u201cvertically\u201d and \u201chorizontally\u201d.<\/p>\n \u2013 What is the most important advice you would give a beginner who wants to build a career in your field?<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2013 Stick to your own principles, do not betray yourself and clearly understand what you want and why you need it. If you know the answers to these questions, you can surely move forward in any field.<\/p>\n \u2013 What is the team for you? Are you a team person or a pro alone?<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2013 For me, the \u201crear\u201d is not just my family. Sure, the family is the most valuable thing that we have. However, since we spend a lot of time at work, your team becomes your \u201crear\u201d and even your \u201csecond family\u201d to some extent. With all my colleagues wherever I worked, I maintained good relations, in some cases even friendly. You create a powerful and even invincible legion building relationships with the team based on the principles of honesty and openness !<\/p>\n \u2013 How do you motivate staff except for the financial component?<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2013 We are all constantly evolving as the time changes. I try to do every my next professional step and action better than the previous one. It is also applied to my team.<\/p>\n \u2013 <\/strong>How do you resolve conflicts in the team?<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2013 A good manager should always stand \u201cabove the situation\u201d and thus work, looking not forward, but from above, and thus see much further and much more.<\/p>\n \u2013 How do you manage everything? What is your \u201ckey\u201d to managing the time?<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2013 Most of my time I spend at work. It is not even from nine to six o\u2019clock, it is almost 24\/7 now. Emails and negotiations take a lot of relatively non-working time. Nevertheless, I do not take it as a sacrifice, for me it is an integral part of my life.<\/p>\n \u2013 Do you consider yourself an example to be followed?<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2013 I consider myself a successful person. For me, a successful person is the one who is engaged in what he wants and enjoys. I work in the areas that I am interested in and I like it. I do nothing under pressur. It means that I am free. The freedom of action is also a criterion of success to some extent. If someone is impressed by my approach to life, my principles, and it can be useful to someone \u2013 it is cool.<\/p>\n \u2013 If you had on opportunity to go back 10-20 years ago, what would you change in your professional life?<\/strong><\/p>\n \u2013 I think that all my jobs were fateful. Therefore, I would not change anything.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
