The National Securities and Stock Market Commission is working to create conditions under which corporate bonds will become a more accessible investment vehicle for Ukrainians, and companies will have more opportunities to raise capital for business development.<\/p>\n
Today, a significant portion of investment demand in the Ukrainian market consists of domestic government bonds (OVDPs). Their availability through digital services has helped encourage citizens to invest. At the same time, the corporate segment of the capital market has significant potential for growth.<\/p>\n
The Commission identifies three key conditions necessary for the expansion of this segment: simplifying access to investment instruments, creating competitive investment conditions, and ensuring transparent risk assessment.<\/p>\n
Corporate bonds allow companies to raise funds from investors without having to give up an ownership stake. For businesses, this is an alternative source of financing, and for citizens, it is an opportunity to invest directly in the development of Ukrainian companies.<\/p>\n
At the same time, such investments carry a different level of risk compared to government securities. Unlike OVDPs, corporate bonds are not backed by a government guarantee of repayment. Therefore, it is important for investors to have sufficient information about the issuer\u2019s financial condition, the terms of the issue, and potential risks.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can already see that Ukrainians are ready to invest. Government bonds have helped foster this culture. Now our task is to create conditions so that people can invest in Ukrainian businesses just as easily. But accessibility must go hand in hand with transparency. Investors must understand where they are putting their money, what returns they can expect, and what risks they are taking on,\u201d<\/em> said Oleksii Semeniuk, Chairman of the NSSMC.<\/p>\n One of the Commission\u2019s areas of focus is the simplification of securities issuance procedures. The regulator also supports legislative initiatives aimed at promoting long-term investment and creating competitive conditions for various financial instruments.<\/p>\n The NSSMC pays particular attention to the transparency of issuers\u2019 activities and the quality of their disclosures. This is an essential prerequisite for building investor confidence and developing the corporate sector.<\/p>\n The development of the corporate bond market should complement government investment instruments and create an additional channel for attracting private capital into the Ukrainian economy.<\/p>\n The Commission continues to work on regulatory changes that will help businesses access the capital market and provide investors with a wider range of investment opportunities.
