Today, on May 8, Ukraine, together with the international community, commemorates the Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II.
On this day, we bow our heads in memory of the millions who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom and human dignity.
This date symbolizes not only victory over a brutal totalitarian regime, but also a profound moment of rethinking historical memory. It underscores our unity with the peoples of Europe in our shared vision of the tragedies of 1939–1945 and in our understanding of their consequences for the present.
Today, as our land is once again engulfed in conflict, Ukrainians are heroically resisting the Russian invasion. We are defending not only our own country, but also the values of freedom, democracy, and peace for the sake of the entire civilized world.
We remember. We are winning. And we believe in a future where justice and peace will prevail.
