Today marks an important national holiday – the Day of Defenders of Ukraine. This year, it is celebrated for the first time on October 1 as a result of the calendar reform.

Our brave soldiers, you have now put the defense of your country and people above all else. Your mission is the most noble in the world, because you are protecting what is ours – our families, our land, our future. May your titanic efforts result in a peaceful sky over Ukraine. Come back to your homes safe and sound.

Forever in our hearts will remain the defenders of Ukraine who gave the most precious thing – their lives – in the fight for independence and territorial integrity. We remember and honor their heroism.

We thank our armed forces for their service and the opportunity to meet a new day in a free country.
