Representatives of the Commission took part in a seminar dedicated to discussing the OECD’s preliminary conclusions and recommendations on improving financial markets and corporate governance. This event is part of the broader OECD Program for Ukraine, which aims to support the recovery and reconstruction of our country.
The seminar served as a platform for presenting the findings obtained during the first and second stages of the OECD Review, including the results of 20 virtual interviews with Ukrainian stakeholders.
The event brought together not only representatives of the NSSMC, but also leading international institutions—the OECD, EBRD, and IMF.
The Commission was represented by Yaroslav Shlyakhov, Commissioner, and Oles Karchemsky, Deputy Director – Head of Unit at the NSSMC’s Supervision of Corporate Governance and Corporate Finance Department.
At a separate session its participants discussed the development of capital markets and the powers of the Commission, namely:
– the integrated structure of the stock exchange;
– updating the NSSMC’s listing requirements;
– accelerating the development and adoption of secondary legislation to improve supervision and enforcement procedures.
Recommendations on strengthening the institutional capacity of the Regulator were also in focus. Among other things, issues related to the creation of effective systems for monitoring companies’ compliance with corporate governance standards were discussed.
The Commission continues to actively cooperate with international partners to improve the regulatory framework and implement international practices to ensure transparency and sustainable economic development in Ukraine.
