On 19 October, a working meeting was held between the leadership of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission (NSSMC) and representatives of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine. The parties discussed further cooperation on European integration reforms, the alignment of Ukrainian legislation with EU standards, and the implementation of joint technical assistance projects.

The meeting was attended by Oleksii Semeniuk, Chairman of the NSSMC; Maksym Libanov and Arsen Ilin, Commissioners; and representatives of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine, led by Jocelin Cornet, Head of Economic and Social Policy section, . Marco Giovanni Crotti and Vitaliya Mudruk, Policy Officers, also joined the discussions.

One of the key topics of the meeting was Ukraine’s implementation of its commitments under the EU accession negotiation process, particularly under Chapter 6, ‘Company Law’, and Chapter 9, ‘Financial Services’.

The NSSMC’s representatives briefed their European partners on ongoing efforts to improve legislation in the areas of corporate governance, shareholder rights protection, investment fund operations, and the functioning of capital market infrastructure.

Particular attention was paid to the development of investment instruments, strengthening investor protection, improving financial services regulation, and introducing European approaches to sustainable finance.

The parties also discussed preparations for the launch of a new EU international technical assistance project in the field of company law, as well as the continued implementation of programmes supporting capital market reforms.

‘For us, European integration is not just about aligning legislation with EU standards. Above all, it is an opportunity to build a modern, transparent, and competitive capital market in Ukraine. We value the support of our European partners and are committed to ensuring that our cooperation delivers tangible results for investors, businesses, and Ukraine’s economy’, said Oleksii Semeniuk, Chairman of the NSSMC.

During the meeting, the EU representatives positively assessed the NSSMC’s work on European integration reforms and reaffirmed their readiness to continue cooperation in areas within the regulator’s remit.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to maintain an ongoing working dialogue, coordinate the implementation of joint initiatives, and align further steps towards meeting Ukraine’s European integration commitments.

The NSSMC continues to work towards establishing a regulatory environment aligned with European standards, fostering the development of Ukraine’s capital market, and attracting investment into the country’s economy.
