The National Securities and Stock Market Commission and the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy are expanding their cooperation to provide students with more practical knowledge about the capital markets and the opportunity to see how the regulator operates from the inside.
A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed by Oleksii Semeniuk, Chairman of the NSSMC, and Serhiy Kvit, President of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
For the Commission, this marks a continuation of the cooperation that is already established. Students from NaUKMA have previously completed internships at the NSSMC, and both sides viewed this experience positively. Now, the cooperation is becoming systematic: ranging from internships and educational events to research and joint work on topics that will shape the future of the Ukrainian capital market.
The first area: educational webinars
The Commission plans to talk to students not only about how the market is supposed to work in theory, but also about the processes taking place in it today and the changes the regulator is working on.
Topics include:
— retail investing and personal investment accounts;
— virtual assets;
— investor protection and combating market abuse;
— international cooperation and the integration of the Ukrainian capital market into the EU’s and the global financial space.

The second area: internship at the Commission
Students will have the opportunity not only to learn about the work of the state regulator but also to see the market from the inside and participate in real-world work processes: market analysis, data processing, and the development of decisions and projects that influence its development.
“We’ve already had a positive experience with students from the Academy, so this Memorandum is not just a formality or an agreement to collaborate sometime in the future. We want to show young people the capital market from the inside: how it operates, what challenges we’re tackling today, and, most importantly, what opportunities are available to them here. Ukraine needs people who understand financial markets and are ready to help build them. And I really want some of these people to come from Ukrainian universities,” said Oleksii Semeniuk, Chairman of the NSSMC.
Cooperation will be two-way. Students will gain access to the regulator’s practical experience and expertise, while the Commission will have the opportunity to engage with the academic community, research, and young people who, in just a few years, will become entrepreneurs, investors, financiers, analysts, and civil servants.
Joint research, lectures, and work on real-world case studies are intended to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and the practical needs of the market.
“It is impossible to build a capital market solely through laws and regulations. It requires knowledge, trust, and people who understand why the country needs this market. That is why working with students is not just an educational initiative for us — it is an investment in the future infrastructure of the Ukrainian capital market,” emphasized Oleksii Semeniuk.
