Oleksii Semeniuk, Chairman of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission, and NSSMC Commissioner Maksym Libanov held a working meeting with representatives of the British Embassy.

Representing the British side were Sophie Hockenhull, Economic Development Advisor – Humanitarian Affairs, Stabilization, and Recovery (HSTAR); Kateryna Andrushchenko, Advisor on Governance; Jemima Hodkinson, Private Sector Development Advosor; and Maryna Posmitna, Economic Advisor.

During the meeting, the sides discussed key areas for the development of Ukraine’s capital markets, including reform priorities for 2026–2027 with a strategic horizon extending to 2030.

Among others, key priorities include:
– deregulation and streamlining of procedures for capital market participants;
– introduction of personal investment accounts;
– development of financial instruments;
– improvement of corporate governance;
– development of market infrastructure and regulation of virtual assets.

Particular attention was paid to EU integration, specifically the alignment of legislation with EU standards and the improvement of capital market transparency.

As part of international cooperation, discussions focused on strengthening collaboration with global financial institutions, including FTSE Russell and the London Stock Exchange Group, as well as preparations for joining the IOSCO Memorandums.

They also discussed opportunities to expand cooperation with international partners to integrate Ukraine into global capital markets.

Representatives of the British Embassy confirmed their interest in continuing to support reforms, particularly in the areas of corporate governance, institutional capacity building, and providing expert guidance on legislative changes.

The sides agreed to continue their cooperation in these areas.
