The National Securities and Stock Market Commission held a two-day training session for its staff on the implementation of the EU Regulation on crowdfunding. The training was supported by the EU initiative Ukraine2EU.

Commission Chairman Oleksii Semeniuk emphasized the importance of crowdfunding platforms for the development of Ukrainian businesses and for attracting funding for new projects.

“Our employees need to understand how to regulate this properly and in a modern way, because how this niche develops will depend on our approach,” said Oleksii Semeniuk.

NSSMC Commissioner Maksym Libanov and Davidas Kriučūnas, a senior expert on EU law at Ukraine2EU, also delivered welcoming remarks. The expert highlighted the familiarity with EU practices demonstrated by the trainer Yekaterina Govina, a regulatory professional from Lithuania.

On the first day, participants reviewed the platforms’ operating rules, licensing requirements, and investor protection measures. The second day focused on regulatory models, key market risks, and how crowdfunding helps small and medium-sized businesses raise funds. The training concluded with a hands-on workshop where participants analyzed real-world European case studies.

These new skills will help the Commission’s experts align Ukrainian legislation with EU standards and create a safe environment for the development of crowdfunding.
